Civil IoT Taiwan
2017–2025 Summary of Achievements
Commissioned by:
National Science and Technology Council (NSTC)
Year:
Over the past decade, climate change, extreme weather events, environmental pollution, and public health crises have posed unprecedented challenges to urban safety and citizens’ quality of life. The “Civil IoT Taiwan” initiative integrates four critical domains — water resource management, air quality monitoring, geological safety, and disaster response — leveraging sensor networks, big data analytics, and intelligent decision-making to create a sustainable and safe living environment.
This publication aims to systematically present the achievements from 2017 to 2025 and outline the vision for the future. Through an internationally aligned visual language, professional editorial design, and narrative storytelling, the project translates complex scientific data and governance strategies into tangible, accessible, and communicable content, serving the dual purposes of policy promotion and historical documentation.

Design Strategy & Concept
The project is built upon the core strategy of “Deepen × Expand × Connect”:
-
Visualizing Key Issues: The four major livelihood topics (Water, Air, Land, Disaster) are represented through a consistent system of colors, symbols, and geometric forms.
-
Integrating Technological Imagery: Dot grids, network lines, transparent overlays, and gradient effects symbolize the data flow and technological permeation of IoT systems.
-
Structured Narrative Design: Each volume follows a storyline that includes a foreword, data highlights, case studies, expert interviews, and future outlooks.

Color & Symbol System
-
Water (Blue): Freshness, reliability, sustainability
-
Air (Green): Intelligence, transparency, balance
-
Land (Yellow): Stability, foundation, safety shield
-
Disaster (Red): Alertness, action, crisis response
The color system emphasizes medium brightness and high saturation to ensure both print and digital visibility, while the minimal abstract icons enable universal communication across cultures.
